If you are interested in learning VLSIi design or have just joined a VLSI course and want a reference book, you will find a large collection of textbooks that are dedicated to this field. The problem is that you can get lost and confused by the large number of subjects covered by these books. To make things easier for you there is a list made by our team to help you find the best books on VLSI design.

1. Principles of CMOS VLSI Design

This book is the first comprehensive text on CMOS VLSI design. It provides an in-depth introduction to CMOS technology, including basic circuit elements, CMOS transistor physics and device models. The book then goes on to discuss the design process from circuit layout to testing and evaluation of programmable devices.

The authors also cover advanced topics such as memory cells, floating gate memories and flash memory. Along with this book, there are two additional books that complement this one and provide additional information: a book on high-speed logic designs – which is available separately – and a book on power management circuits – which is also available separately. It starts with a discussion of the basic building blocks of an LSI, followed by an explanation of how these blocks are organized in a programmable device. The second half of the book focuses on how to design a CMOS inverter and shift register. The author uses examples from his personal experience as well as from textbooks and other sources to explain his points.

The most important aspect of this book is that it provides a solid basis for understanding the principles underlying CMOS logic design, which is absolutely necessary for anyone wishing to enter this field. It also provides an excellent reference for those who wish to learn more about this topic.

2. VLSI Design: circuits and systems perspective

This is another well-known resource on VLSI design. This book has been published by Prentice Hall since 1976 and is still available today. It has been translated into several languages including English, French, German and Japanese. The book contains many exercises which help readers understand concepts better by giving them hands-on experience with them. It covers all the important aspects of a VLSI system, including hardware and software, circuit design, fabrication and test, signal processing and signal integrity. The book uses an integrated approach, explaining how to carry out the design process from start to finish, using both classical and modern examples. This is an ideal reference book for those who want to learn more about CMOS technology and how it can be used in different applications such as digital signal processors (DSPs), programmable logic devices (PLDs), microprocessors etc..

3. Fundamentals of Modern VLSI Devices

If you want to learn about the fundamentals of modern VLSI design, this is a great book to start with. It will teach you how to get started in the field and how to think about your designs. There are also a ton of useful examples and exercises throughout the book. This book covers all the basics that you need to know about VLSI design, including logic synthesis, RC, combinational logic and memory design. It also talks about digital modelling, especially for memory hierarchy design and delay optimization. This book is aimed at beginners and intermediate students who want to learn about VLSI devices from scratch.

4. VLSI Physical Design

This book is more advanced than the earlier books mentioned in the list and can be used as a reference for more complex problems in VLSI design. It covers many topics including reconfigurable hardware, programmable logic arrays, MOSFET scaling, prefetching flows and much more. This book is aimed at advanced students who want to get into the field of VLSI design but don’t know where to start! The book covers the logic synthesis, timing closure methods, RTL implementation, interconnect topology optimization etc.
